Aurora Group Home

Clients: Youth age 13-17 years
Length of stay: 6-9 months
Capacity: 7

The Aurora Group Home is designed to provide intensive and specialized treatment services, for young people 13-17 years of age that have Children’s Services status and whose primary issues of concern relate to their psychological, emotional, and/or psychosocial development.

A multi-disciplinary team will deliver individualized treatment, which involves the coordinated efforts of milieu therapy, individual and group therapy, skill building, family support services (including family therapy), 24-hour monitoring and supervision, and specialized education for a period of six to nine months. The program recognizes some youth may require a longer period of treatment, and this will be reviewed regularly by members of the treatment team at scheduled case reviews. The program is client-centered, which means we empower the client to take an active role in their treatment, and we honour their unique individual process.

The intensive treatment program is offered in a structured and nurturing environment and is deliberate in its focus to increase the young person’s adaptive behaviour for successful functioning at home, school, and in the community.
