The Comfort Zone
In the time of a pandemic and economic downturn, many people have turned to Focused Counselling offered by Vantage Community Services. The demand for this Focused Counselling is so much that Vantage has had to hire additional therapists. For people who are distressed and looking for support, the step it takes to say “I need some help” is a huge step outside of most people’s comfort zone. To honour and support these individuals, Evan Staal will be stepping outside of his own comfort zone and taking on the 4x4x48 Challenge to raise money in support of Vantage’s Focused Counselling.
What is the 4x4x48 Challenge?
Created by famed ultramarathon runner, David Goggins, the 4x4x48 Challenge is to run 4 miles every 4 hours over 48 hours. Totally 48 miles or 77km in 2 days! This is an international event to promote fundraising for a multitude of causes, and to promote mental resilience.
Why would ANYONE want to do this?
In Evan’s own words …. “Over the last 4 years, I’ve reached out to utilize Focused Counselling. Like most people, I’ve had my share of traumatic experiences, mental health problems, and relationship issues. Vantage’s counsellors have given me the perspective, tools, and goals I needed to grow and move forward. I want to pay this forward and raise money to pay for someone else who might not be able to afford to access Focused Counselling.”
